Eastern Shore Dance Academy Studio Policies
Tuition: August tuition is due on the first day of class and is pro-rated to ½ of tuition. September through May tuition is due on the first class of every month- a $10.00 late charge will be added after the 15th of each month. Tuition is based on a yearly rate of August 20th through May 21st – payable monthly. No refunds for holidays or absences (excused absences may be made up within 1 month). Semester payment discount = 5% (August-December/ January-May); Yearly discount = 10% (August-May.) Advanced payment is required for discounts.
Make-up Classes: Students are encouraged to attend class. Missed classes due to illness may be made up within a month. No allowance will be made on monthly tuition. Make-up classes do not count toward perfect attendance.
Dance Attire: Hair should be pulled back off the neck for all classes. All students are required to dress properly for each class. No shorts or long shirts can be worn over leotard.
Visitation: We encourage parents to follow their child’s progress throughout the year, but we ask that you observe only on visitation days to minimize distractions. These dates will be sent home during the year.
Holidays: We observe Thanksgiving, Christmas, Mardi Gras and Spring Holidays. If the public schools close due to inclement weather, please call the studio for a recording on if classes will be held or not. Any make-up days will be announced. We do not close for teacher work days.
Spring Recital: Our spring recital will be held in May at the Saenger Theatre. A to be determined recital fee will be due on or before April 1st.
Costumes: Costume orders will require a $50 deposit (per costume/per class) due starting October 30th. Balances, if any, will be due in March. No costumes will be ordered without a deposit. Students taking both ballet and tap/jazz classes must pay a deposit for 2 costumes.
Valuables: Please make sure your child has their name on all shoes, bags, etc. A lost and found box is located in the dressing room.
Insurance: E.S.D.A suggests that all dance students be covered by their own family insurance policies. If injury should occur it is understood that the students’ own policy is your only source for reimbursement.
Arrival Time: Please try to have your students to class on time and picked up promptly afterwards. We understand delays happen, but please call the studio and let us know if you will be more that 15 minutes late in picking up your child, or if anyone who is not listed on your card is to pick up your child. E.S.D.A cannot be responsible for non-student children left unattended. Please let the studio know if your child will be walking or riding a school bus to the studio. We are not responsible for students until they are on the premises.
Safety Note: For students that are being dropped off at the studio, please pull to the front entrance of the building before allowing them to exit the vehicle. At all times, please be aware that small children will be entering and exiting the building. For students’ safety, please avoid blocking the stairs.
DRESS CODE:
Creative Movement/Pre-Ballet/Tap: Black or pink leotards, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, black tap shoes.
Ballet: Pink or black leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes required. Long hair must be worn in a bun.
Tap: Black tap shoes required.
Jazz: Black jazz oxfords required.
Boys: Gym shorts, t-shirt and black ballet shoes.
Hip/Hop: Loose fitting clothes and athletic shoes.
